Just been looking at this gps and it says you can load other maps on to an SD card... what are your impressions of the gps itself? any real cons that i should be concerned with?

Nextdestination were decidedly unclear on information for this GPS. What I want to know is this : If I am travelling to the UK but do not want to wipe the base maps of australia off the gps, what do I need to purchase map-wise to enable me to have turn-by-turn maps loaded for the short time I am there? Although there are rumours of problems regarding this, surely maps can be loaded somehow!

Not sure it's for me. You can't use it overseas, and it does lat/long, no UTM grid references, which I like.
The maps on the SD card are supposed to be good, and the city mapping for australia is good with voice prompted turn-by-turn maps loaded in the unit.
I wanted to take it internationally which it's not good for (because the city maps are preloaded).
PM me if your interested in it anyone, I'll let it go for $860 (rrp is around $1200 with the maps) plus post and packaging (this can be about $30 for inured post, and price includes the maps of oz on sd card and some cds), once it arrives and I've checked it's all good, but not exactly what I want. It's 3 months old apparently and the Australian model.
I think for national, not international, use, and off road to find waypoints using lat/long, it would be great.
It's also ruggedised and splash resistant.
Battery is internal and lets you use it away from the vehicle, but for multi day hikes you would have to turn it off to conserve power.
