    GPS in D3

Anyone installed an aftermarket GPS in a D3? I remember I avoided the factory option for cost reasons, but I do remember some aftermarket options.

ANy success stories and or pics of your aftermarket set-up?

    Thanks!

    GPS in Disco 3

I have a 7" screen Chine GPS with AV input in my Disco. I run a 2Gb SD card with Route 66 for street navigation and OZIexplorerCE with natmaps Australia and selected Hema maps for whatever trip I am doing downloaded from my desktop with Full blown OZIExplorer on my desktop. This works great as the 7" screen is very eazy to see and zoom in and out on the selected maps. All up about $600 for everything. Hema digital maps average about $20 - $50 to download.

a Garmin PDA-GPS which would run Garmin Navigation maps and also oziexplorer CE. Works well. I also now have a Dell mini 9 running oziexplorer with a GPS reciever in the high level brake light housing. I run it froman in dash touch screen but moat sen inch touch screens will fit in the space in the dash.

If you have the LR screen and no sat nav you can attch an input to the screen. (see DISCO3.CO.UK - Dedicated to Discovery 3 and LR3 Owners and Enthusiasts )

Run both a Hema and Lowrance globalmap 100 both driven by OziExplorer, the Lowrance has a rather small screen unless I put it through the laptop, really good unit though. I have yet to put the Hema through it's paces but the use I have had suggests it will work well

I've got a Garmin mounted here. Ignore the cable tie, it's used to secure my video tripod. The good thing about this is I can remove all but the mounting ball if I need the shelf for something else.

Had to spend $25 at Bunnings on a right angle drill adaptor to drill 3 x 6mm mounting holes.
