You can download maps from Geoscience Australia. These work with Oziexplorer with some playing around. It's your hard earned tax dollars at work so you may as well use it. https://www.ga.gov.au/products/servl...EFINE_PRODUCTS
Het guys, found a link to download software called MVGoogle. I allows you to select any given area of google eart sattelite images or google maps images, and instantly convert them to an Oziexplorer map file.
?????
The page is in russian but just click on the link ending in GoogleMV1.zip and it will down load.
Extract and start.
Again it will be in russian, go to gear symbol and you can change the language to english.
1. What zoom? Don't be too greedy as detailed images need a lot of space and download time. 13x gives you quality similar to NASA satellite images. 14x is the best I can get in some parts of WA. 15x is my favourite: reasonable details, but not so big. 16x is very detailed and I wouldn't go any further.
2. How to do it? My preference is to zoom at size I like and than scroll through the area of interest. Once you got everything, zoom to a smaller number, select the area you looked earlier and zoom you used before. Click Start and in Operating Mode set Internet and Cache. Accept it and image will be created within seconds. Selecting Cache & Internet will take longer but if you don't, some of the map may not already be in the cache. Obviously the larger the area you select to use as a map, the longer it will take to build it from the net. So, go small. If you select to create .map file, you can use it in Oziexplorer immediately. Cache stays on your computer and you can use it later to build on it.
