if you can find an indash carputer (i.e. one that runs windows) there are various typs of GPS software you can put on it. I would trust the electronics/hardware but I think you will find the software will let it down on the linglong item

Would you trust a company that can't spell "Caesar"?

By heck, prices have dropped since I last looked at them.

I'd go for one except that the P38A dash is not suited for one.

These are some good buying. Ok, so they're not Sony, Panasonic etc, but the DVD, and digital audio technology is so mature, you can't really buy one that sounds or looks that bad.

For the price its staggering, considering you're going to pay 3-400 for GPS on its own, plus DVD, TV, and the you have the connectivity to chuck OziExp, (if thats what you use) on there aswell, and you don't from what i can see, even have to hack it to load other software. If I was in the position of having to purchasing a GPS, I'd definitely just go for one of these.

    cheers
    Nick

Already have a gps unit that works fine (ipaq-312) but in my p38 the radio screen has gone and proves to be a real pain in the a**e wanted to upgrade with pioneer or vms systems that fit in compartment above stereo (where my uhf is currently) but at this price seems ridiculous($2000) so found these. But can not find anyone with one. might just bite the bullet and give it ago. some of them can even except steering wheel controls and aux for staker.

Peacey - please let us know if you do get one of these and how you go about installing it.

I'd like to do the same thing but am possibly taking a slightly different approach in that I'm happy with the current JVC stereo/DVD/iPod unit in my dash and just want to add the Carputer for GPS (urban and off-road), EASunlock and FaultMate, maybe some extra music and wireless Internet (when in range).
I'm proposing a 7" or 8" touch screen in the dash above the stereo connected to a laptop in the glovebox with some remote power-on/off circuitry. Still in the conceptual stage but one day...

    cheers, Paul.
