    I`ve got the Nuvi 255.
It comes loaded with City Navigator, and depending where you purchase, may be able to get GPS Topo loaded as well.
You need to purchase a 2G memory card which you can download topo to as well as Tracks 4 Australia free off the Net.
best to have Navigator in the internal memory and load accessories onto the card.
You will need a program such as Mapsource.Have a talk with the dealer, most of seem to want to do a deal.

you can switch from one to the other or run, say, topo and Tracks at the same time quiet happily.
All 3 at once makes it a little confused but you are not likely to do that anyway.
For the money not a bad little unit.

    Cheers....Trev.

    the aldi ones are hackable...

Ive done connies but your limited to using the memory card you do the hack on so no swapping mem cards.

    Connies wont address over 2Gb.

if its only a short term thing I can lend you my old digiwalker 701 phone/pda/gps thing so you can get a feel for how it all works.

(the batteries knackered and the screen is not displaying colours correctly.

I recently saw the Garmin 400T Oregon. It is a navigator, but has very detailed bush tracks on it. Much better than the Hema one which runs Ozi, but won't navigate you in the bush.

Plus it has heaps of extra features.

I'm not sure on the price, as the guy who had it worked for a company that is going to be a distributor, and this was his demo model to play with from Garmin.

Google it, and I'll see if I can get an idea about pricing soon, and get back to this in a few days.

Are you referring to Topographic Navigation ( auto Routing capability ) I just recently uploaded City Nav NT 2009 onto my Nokia N95 and Hacked the Garmin Mobile XT for Symbian software , I'm running Shonky Topo maps as well on my Nokia , I had to buy a Bluetooth GPS reciever to pair up with Nokia N95 .

If you are due for a new cell phone , try the Samsung Omnia I900.
Dont know how the cell thing works in Oz.
The Omnia has a proper sized screen but is not keyboard friendly. Typically like the Nuvi's and it has Garmin software with Windows mobile OS.
