    G'Day Simon

I'll bring my setup to the vic gathering if you want to have a look.

Cost was slightly over your budget but it works really well for me

    Dell laptop ... ~$400 ebay
bluetooth gps ... ~$100 ebay (they're less now)

    running Oziexplorer

    talk then

    Simon look on ebay.

A couple of the guys have bought the 7" screen GPS units that come with a turn by turn street navigator for the city, but you can also run OziExplorer CE for your topo maps when in the bush etc. They look the ducks guts. I have a similar setup but it's only a 5" screen and a bit small.

Talk to Hiline ( Ray) at the gathering - these units are well in your budget range. There's plenty of digital topo and other maps for Ozi around in the group.

BTW hows the bumper I see it's gone from my driveway ?

    Hi Simon,

Check out Logicgear 4.3" Logic Gear XL488 GPS with Hands-free Bluetooth, Sensis WhereIs Deluxe map, anti-theft Security PIN & AV-in - Logic Gear - GPS. . You can buy with safety as Australian company with pretty good support. I've got the XL488 with reversing camera & it even runs Ozi Explorer from an SD card instead of the normal Igo GPS turn by turn software which is in NovRAM.
The XL488 is currently going cheap as it is a runout model, but will do everything you require.
Let me know if you purchase one with the reversing camera option, as I found I had to make a small mod to installation to prevent electrical noise from the TD5 fuel pump.

    Cheers..B

I got one of these http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.23569. Lovely big screen, plenty of features.

Free shipping, about $130 when converted to AU$. With a little bit of tinkering, allows you to run many different apps, including Ozi (extra $40 for the license). If you like, I could probably give you a hand setting it up.

Are you just running Ozi on it, or have you got Australian street maps from somewhere?

    Hi Steve,

I checked out site & very good deal & features for the price. Even free shipping.
There was no mention of GPS mapping (voice turn by turn, red light etc) software for Australia. Did you get this supplied, or did you source from elsewhere?
    Thanks..b
