Hi all, anybody got a 5speed conversion running to original T/F case behind their Holden powered S3 Landy? I would love to here from you.

    Hi Eddie,

I'm presently doing one right now.

Not with standard transfer though, mine is with a high speed transfer, not that it makes much difference, for as far as I'm aware, the mods would all be pretty much the same.

What gear box are you guys running? I have a mate with land cruiser box behind his 202, but it is also running the toyota trans case.

G'day sideroad, I'm running the standard 4speed series box and T/F case behind the 186. Hey do the leavers on your mates T/F case come out at the same spot as a series T/F case? With mine the leavers appear to come out in the same spot as original Landy motor i.e original holes and no changes to my prop shafts to my knowledge. Many thanks. Eddie

The toyota box and trans is very different to the rover. The shifter is in a similar place and the trans levers are completely different, but on the same side and roughly in the same place. A modified trans cover was made.
The P.O. changed to the toyota to cut down on noise and get better gear ranges. Supposedly it worked a treat, much quieter, 5spd and full syncro with very simple 4x4/high and low shifting. It is an option I would consider down the track.
If the rover was originally a 6cyl then the box and tail shaft are already further back compared to the 4cyl location resulting in clearance between the front of the holden 6 and the cross member. The 6cly gear stick was close to straight as opposed to the bent 4cly one.
