Mainshaft into Flywheel Spigot Bearing- How Far?

I'm putting back the 186 that was fitted in my 2A which involves replacing the adaptor plate.

    Engine Swap: Re-Alignment?

That low compression on No. 6 was the exhaust valve: the seat was a mass of very tiny pits. I found some grinding paste that must have been 25yo but it worked beautifully so we shall see when I start it up!

The alignment was superb! A mere 3 thou variation. Which goes to show that a well made adaptor will transfer OK provided the dowels are a nice fit.

For good measure, using a straight edge & vernier I checked the penetration (?) of the mainshaft into the flywheel spigot bush and got ~ 11.5mm. The bush is flush with the end of the crankshaft.

    Is that enough?

The engine (173) that the adaptor was attached to had a bush that was about 15mm proud of the end of the crankshaft.
