Yeah, I got your reply (At least I think I did). THe one with the pics of the 2 boosters?

Neother appeared to be the right thing as far as I could see. Iroacly, I just organised to get one from British Off Road this morning. Now I guess that I hpe that it is the right thing :? . Paxton seems to know his stuff though, and only for some $300 odd less than my last quote, not bad.

I had a go at the fuel sender last night. Seems to work fine untill you go to a little under half, then the guage suddenly drops to zero. So it would appear that the sender isn't functioning properly in the lower hald of the range. Also the float has a little fuel in it, but only a few mills.

Odd about the 12V / 24 V business. THe info plate sais 12V, but someone else that I have been talking to says that his S3 FFR was 24V. Not sure what to think there :?:

I'm pretty busy for the rest of the week, so i'll give the rest of the guages and sensors a close look next week

Vottages: the truck is 12volt BUT the Radio gear was 24v they ran a second generator mounted on the top or side some of these started life on Austin Champs then went to the 2a's to run the 72 sets and Clansman rigs, like most things in our cash strapped Defence Force it goes from one to the next  did you get your series 3 light lens :?:

if u want any military stuff let me know as you should have my e-mail by now

Ahh, I was confused for a bit, btu I got the e-mail now. It went to my old e-mail address that i'm shutting down soon. My current one is in the profile here. Only difference is that it is @vision.net.au instead of @comic.com.

As for the park light. Nothing there yet, i'm still waiting for someone to mail it to me, but they seem to have become unreliable. I'm not sure what is going on.

Not sure if I've got the whole assembly or just the booster. I assume just the booster. WHy? Am I better off getting the whole thing?

Anyway, you can ask him on the weekend, because I won't be getting the money to him until next week, so he will still have it.

Thanks for your help

Grover's Booster

Hi, Phoenix

Sorry about the E-mail address I just looked up 129 and hey presto! you will have to update that address in due time, that will keep handyman happy

your booster? do you want the complete Booster/Duel M/cyl assy complete? or just the booster? the advantage of the assy is it is just a bolt to the pedal box connect the pipes and bleed :!: :!: BUT these are Landrover brakes  I will check with Paxton and will check prices and notify you, do you want anything else (lens? type, park/flash, S/hand OK, price range? ) let me know.

regards Rocket

Well I tend to get the local mechanic to do my brake stuff (He knows landys pretty well), so the booster that I have already ordered from paxton will be ok.

I had forgotten to get ross to change my e-mail on the other website, better drop him a line some time.

Perhaps you should grab me a park light. Mr Plod will catch up to me one days. If the other guy does come through, i'll replace one of the others, whichever is worse off. E-mail me with costs and i'll get the money to you.

Reverse light query, the switch on the gearshift, is it supposed to gave 2 wires attached to it? Mine only has one, and the reverse lights don't work (Funnily enough, my brothers series 3's reverse lights also don't work).

Grovers Booster

Hi Phoenix,
Just spoke to Paxton and he said that you had ordered the Vacc booster only, he said that he can do the Dual M/cylinder as well, so the Booster/M'cylinder Assy will cost double what he quoted you for the booster ($booster x2) + GST and if I pull it off YOU will get a discount, if you want the complete Pedalbox-M/Cylinder-Booster Assy that will cost Booster+M/cyl+$80 +gst and if I pull it out YOU STILL get the discount LET ME KNOW you can get me on (07)5497 5933

Yes, the reversing light switch has 2 wires from it one is a hot lead (When Ign On ) comes down the firewall and across to the switch (THIS WIRE USUALLY GETS TANGLED IN THE GEAR LEVERS AND WILL CAUSE A DEAD SHORT BLOWING ITS RESPECTIVE FUSE OR WILL BURN DOWN THE CAR 8O ) from memory the other wire goes down the left chassis rail to the back up lights, and were both plain green wires, I recommend sheathing the live wire with some spagetti tube from a craft shop or Crazy Clarks etc about 10cents a metre the Switch is the same as the engine bay mounted stop light switch, they don't like water a great deal(but Leyland was into cheapness) they can sometimes be cleaned, they need to be adjusted to operate, done by slacking the lock nut and screwing in (with Rev Gear Selected Ign On) so the lights just come on +1/2 turn otherwise the plunger gets jamed down the barrel (new switch is about $40) That is enough repair secrets for this morning  I have a 2a that needs a tuneup, timing is out, Dissy's moved,

No, looking at my bank balance, all that I can handle at the moment is the booster. That will fix my immediate problems.

Thanks for the offer anyway.

I'll have to have a close look at that wiring. THe one from the engine bay is ok, and sheathed already. Hasn't been a probloem with tangling at this point, I have snapped the gear lever twice, but no problems with the one wire that is there

grover's booster

Hi Phoenix
That's no problem re the booster, thought I would see how good a deal I could get you, I had to ring Paxton anyhow, will pick up a park lens while I am up there and let you know the $$$ s I will take it off the FFR just to keep it Army for you (I'am specialist scrounger on all things Army Landrover  ) all most as good as McLauchlin. You've snapped the gearlever TWICE 8O I bet that you grab the knob and pull !! or push !!
use the palm of your hand or the 3 middle fingers (yeah I know it sounds pornographic, but the gearbox will respond to it) or whoever welded it did not do a V weld,

Your'e my kind of person

I do appreciate the offer, it is just saving for a house, and buying car parts don't mix too well. Unfortunately I need to deaw the line somewhere. Thanks for sorting a park light out. Whiloe you are there ............ Could you see if the hoops from along the bulkhead are still there (To tie down the fune curtain)? Also the fork on the back to tie the canopy to (The one that sits behind the jerry can wheyou you have them on). Thanks MR Scrounger

Initially when I snapped it (It took almost no pressure, there was a weak point in the metal of the shifter, and it was pretty obvious throught the break), I tried to purchase a new one. Mainly because the break was about 1 cm from the base of the shifter above the pivot point). But the guy wouldn't sell me one.

This guy is the only one that wrecks landys in the state, and is abbout 5 mins drive away, and is the biggest F*&%$@ in town. Overcharges, 80% of the time sais that he doesn't have the key for the yard etc. I'd just cut the lock off the yard one night and take my pick of pieces if I wasn't such a nice guy.

So this 'person' told me to get it fixed and he wouldn't sell me one. So I trundled off to get it fixed, put it back on, 2 weeks later, the weld broke, NOT HAPPY JAN So I took it bakc and made them fix it properly, and I wasn't paying a second time. It isn't the best fix, but it is on the list of stuffed bits that need fixing eventually, but will do at the moment.

So not entirely my fault, i actually drive grover very gently.
