202 running temp and oil pressure

Holden workshop manual for the early reds states that the oil light flickering at idle is normal.
Standard Temp for the Holden reds over this way was pretty much 180F (82C). The higher flow Trident thermostats are good but if you are a bit worried about it heating up when you are in traffic etc maybe start off with a 160F or 170F. I am not sure what your maximum ambient temps get to but mid forties are not uncommon here in summer, so I run a high flow 160 in my vehicle (Land Rover with a Holden engine). The other thing that will help is to wire your electric fan so that it will also cut in when you have your foot on the brake, that way you will keep the temp down from the start when you are in traffic.

I Installed a 10" thermo fan on my brothers S2a with a red conversion connected to a temp sensor, and I am going to be installing a Davis Craig thermo fan on mine when I get it back together. If you are going to use your landy on the beach, a thermo fan will help keep the temps down in the soft sand.

My fan setup.
One pushing from the front (14") two pulling (10") but at present only one of these connected as two have proven to be sufficient. The third can be connected if the need arises...extreme hot weather or heavy towing.

so..

found the problem, there was no thermostat at all, the surfaces were very gunked up, and a bit of corrosion. I gave it a wire brush and sand, it will need a good flush at some point.

landy is running sweet, and now sits at a more respectable 85c

Good to see it was a nice easy fix. :)

just hope it doesn't bring any gremlins out now it's running a bit warmer than it has been
