But then again, the Defender would have probably pulled up quicker & avoided the mess.
you can hear caravan brakes lock, but ABS didn't even react in truck
calculated speed via time between white lines 79.2kmh at impact, 100kmh at start .

Thanks Chops,
Cows dead .
bent mounting bracket behind bulbar, should be able to straighten out easy enough, but surprisingly the alloy bar itself unscathed , Lots of cow poop on truck.
Im really surprised actually, I did expect to see some damage when I pulled over - but nothing apart from bulbar out of skelter !! However its a real motivator to get the brakes ugraded. Worst brakes on any vehicle Ive ever driven, ... not quite good as a non vacuum assisted 80"
An alloy bullbar, and only a slightly bent bracket, not bad. I would have thought you'd have sustained more than that, cool.
Worse than a Series brakes,, that can't be good on a light truck
Gee you nailed it good. Perhaps because it was relatively square on the damage was minimal. Still good to hear as something like that can change the whole trip quite quickly. Hows the cat count?

No Veal, too much traffic, but not sure pre-tenderised side of beef would go too well ?? .
Im surprised that plastic lump over the join between the hoop and the bar survived, but two sections of the mesh are now concave. The bar is in front of the radiator so Im lucky, the grille with the iveco badge is in front of the intercooler.
Jason, interestingly have not seen one cat yet this year, but QLD still to come
Hi Goingbush.
I'm surprised to hear that the brakes in your Iveco are poor.. I ran a 65 C15 double cab in the UK and the brakes were massive and very effective. ABS was always kicking in/off as they were so responsive. Good to see you holding a straight line and not taking off to the left!

yes Simon, one of the things that was drummed into me when learning to drive, never swerve for an animal. ( more so when towing) but if I'd stayed in the left lane I would have missed him . bugger !!
the brakes are crap, they are not Iveco brakes like on the T-rex . Daily 4x4 - SCAM use axle assemblies from Carraro , and they come with the agricultural brakes that suit the tractors they were designed for - New Holland / John Deere !!
I and 60 something other owners are pushing hard to get Iveco to fix the brakes but I doubt its going to happen.
At least we have bullet proof diffs and axles
Luckily I have a brake engineering company organised that can do the retrofit and fit larger diameter vented front rotors , and that will also allow the rotors to be fitted over the hub to avoid swivel housing disassembly that is needed to service existing solid rotors.
more about the brake problem here Iveco 4x4 Problems & Issues
PS that rule about never swerving for an animal - don't apply for cats -
