D3 TJM Ox Winch into an ARB Bullbar D3 TJM Ox Winch into an ARB Bullbar

Greets all... thought it worth a share having just installed a TJM 9500lb Ox winch into an ARB bullbar along with optional wireless remote.

Bit of a tight fit and the photo below shows the winch from underneath. The control box ended up mounting on the supplied bracket above the winch between it and the radiators down there... not ideal IMO but very difficult to relocate without changing to longer cables and other pain.

Curious to know what anyone has done with respect to installing the control box for their wireless fob? It has a power switch so I'm thinking it's worth mounting this switch somewhere respectable out of the black box it comes in.

Has anyone done something 'special' like a console or dash switch to isolate their winch control?

 Thanks for any input.

			No but I want to

Looking at both winch and bull bar at present for my D3. I think your thoughts on a isolation switch makes a lot of sense. A few yarns of people (if you would call them that) misusing other peoples winches make it a serious consideration I would think. How is your set up working and what sort of cost was involved?

Yes, I have in/out and an isolater switch on the dash, plus a second in/out on the bullbar and never bother with the cable.

I think with my setup I can escape exterior misuse problems as there will be no outside accessible socket for the winch controller. I will put one under the bonnet at some stage but nothing accessible by 'fiddling hands'.

The one I want to mount internally is the on/off for the wireless controller fob. I'm hunting for something respectable (and worthy [ ]) of mounting in the cab space somewhere. ]) of mounting in the cab space somewhere.

Cost wise, the winch was $1k and the extra remote was $99. Fitting was a saga as nothing quite lined up and the control box I'd relocate if I had loooonger cables and a suitable space. Easiest option after lots of time looking at it all was to mount as I've done to get the job done. No real issue with it as the stone guard protects it all... I just don't like having anything in the way of airflow to the radiators down there.

Only other thing is the weirdo battery terminals. Will definitely find another option to redo these to take the winch cables. I've modded the -ve to get a connection on to it but cable entry to the battery box cover too will need some addressing. We'll get there... this truck is a beast.

 Hope this helps.
