Yeah, that's the down side. Who needs lcd screens for rear seats when rear seats will spend their entire life folded down or removed. etc, etc. And the 20" wheels.......I assume brake calipers are same size as the rest of the range so it should be possible to at least go back to 19" (not that there are many tyres to choose from when I get there )

So I went and tet drove the V8 today.......The sales guy jumped in to start it....oops, flat battery. He said it hadn't been driven for about 4 or 5 days. He didn't seem at all suprised. Noting the demo was an AUG 09 build, is there known issues with battery life????

No battery life issue that I am aware. But with all that electronic wizardry, doors opened and closed in the show room etc and no miles done except to get onto the showroom floor a flat battery is not a surprise.

Some with more detailed knowledge of batteries may also chime in regarding the damage fully draining a battery might do, so could be worthwhile getting it replaced with a nice new one if you go ahead with that vehicle.

Some of the earlier builds suffered from battery drain - the assurance software update is supposed to rectify this. Perhaps the demo hasn't been updated?

I tend to agree with discoweb on this one, and sneigy will probably be able to confirm how often it happens, but I have been in a few dealerships of varying brands and found brand new cars on the showroom floor with flat batteries.

Electronic devices drain batteries if the cars aren't driven.

So what happens when I leave the car at the airport for 2 weeks or camp in the same spot for 4 or 5 days? scary.

well as long as your not playing with all the electronics, moving mirrors seats, looking at the pretty pictures from the camera's etc you should be fine. Moving seats in particular puts a reasonable drain on the battery, and in a dealers car, that is often the first thing that gets touched once you sit inside.

As Gordon has also said, the assurance program may not have been done to this vehicle.
Early vehicles suffered from battery drain, this is not the vehicles fault in particular but can be a salesperson problem as the vehicle ignition is left on & they sit with the customer & drain battery going through all the options.
If the vehicle is locked & key stowed away from the vehicle as need be there shouldnt be a problem.
There has been a couple of instances of flat batteries, but this is slowly being rectified by the assurnce program Q093.
