The supplier is also out of stock in Melbourne atm but plenty is held in Qld.

I just looked up the Continental website and strangely they do not even list the 18' as being part of the product range so can not check their LR.

But as my local LR dealer is pushing these I would have thought the load rating met minimum specifications

Were you after a higher LR than the minimum recommend, which from memory is either 109 or 110.

Hi George, I believe the Conti's have a "T" rating (190km's) but the placard on the vehicle states no less than a "H" rating (210km's). I know it's not much and I wouldn't be getting up near 190km's anyway, but insurance co's might have more to say. I don't know.....really until the car is out of warranty, i'll keep it to recommended ratings....after that, we'll see what's out there.

I've just had a new D4 delivered with Continental Crosscontact AT's. I was going to fit the GG AT2 but a tyre dealer who fits both indicated, albeit subjectively that the newer Contis have stronger side walls - I don't know this for a fact but am willing to run with the Conti's - this time and see how they go.

The only difference in ratings between the GG AT2 and the Conti that I can see is a higher speed rating

Conti = 255/60 R18 112T TL XF FR

GG AT2 = 255/60 R18 112H TL XL

Seems both are rated at 1120kgs/2469lb per tyre which is over and above the LR load rating requirement of 109 (your number)

The Aussie Continental Web site hasn't been updated - go to the the Gobal Website for full details.

Don't know that the dfference in speed rating between 190kph to 210kph makes much difference, I don't go over 110kph - possibly may affect wear rate/running temperature at speed.

I think the following applies to all states, but obviously check with your relevant regulatory body.....

For a road-registered 4WD passenger vehicle, the minimum tyre speed rating that can be fitted is either the OEM recommended tyre or an 'N' rating tyre (140kph), whichever is the LOWER. So either the Conti or the GG is sufficient.

I assume you bought your vehicle from Barbagallo's? I enquired with them and they mentioned the Conti's. I did discuss with my Melbourne dealer and they were non commital regarding the speed rating. Oh well, I think the GG's will be a good choice from what I hear. Hopefully when it comes around to replace them there will be many more to choose from.

I had the dealer fit my GG AT2's on delivery, subsequently they cost less than $200ea fitted and balanced as they gave me credit for the original tyres.
