An ARB store in Sydney said ARB had the first prototype designed and they are developing/testing a second prototype. I was told ARB expect to have one ready for sale in 6 weeks. Therefore about early August. We shall see...I guess.
Cheers

Sitting at the lights tonight on the way home from work, I noticed the spunky headligts of the D4 coming up behind me and approaching rapidly in the slip lane.
As I'm mesmorized by the lights everytime I see them I watched the car in my mirror the whole way until it passed me.
As it flashed pass I noticed the D4 was wearing a bull bar. That's rare I though having read on here others attempts at getting bar work, but what was even rarer was it looked like an ARB bar. Now everyone is being told these are not available yet so I thought I better go check this out.
I pulled out of my lane and zoomed down the slip lane and turned in the direction of the D4. I eventually caught up and got a better look - yep he has an ARB bar sitting on the front of his car.
As it was dark and I was driving I didn't get a chance to get any pics, but if you know what the D3 bar looks like then this looked pretty much the same. Not that that should surprise anyone.
I have seen this D4 around Ringwood couple of times now - Bonatti Gray HSE 3.0 ltr, but this is the first time I have seen it with a bar.
So if you are after a bullbar it is probably time to start turning up the heat on ARB because they at least have a proto type developed.

Nothing on their web site yet and when you do a product search by Landrover Discovery D4 it still shows a D3. Although I must admit the bull bar on the D3 looks grouse and hopefully is a sign of what the D4 will look like.
Hmm, 6 weeks to save how much loot? About $2,500???
I prefer the sahara style bar myself but ARB have said they are not doing one because they didn't sell enough for the D2a.
The D3 bar is $1846.95 plus fitting of $340 - total $2186.95.
If you think the fitting sounds expensive there is a 20+ page fitting manual.Long gone are the days im afraid, where you simply undo a couple of bolts to pull the old bumper off and then do them up again with the bar in place.
Trobbo,
Do they reuse things like the fog lamps from the D3/D4 or do you have to buy the ARB ones? I know the ARB ones cost and arm and a proverbial.
Ron
They used my fog lamps when they fitted the bar to my D3.

For what it's worth I just emailed them to stick my hand up for one and this was the reply:
"The Discovery 4 bars are still in the prototype/engineering stage so we don’t have any pricing or production runs set at this stage. I expect to have some more information in the next couple of weeks. I have put an order on a bar for you to get you in line for when they are available. This order doesn’t commit you to it but it means that we will have a bar put aside for you. "
Regards, Ron
PS: Just received afollow up email where they advised that only the Deluxe bar would be made available.

I've had a deposit down with ARB on a D4 winch bar since 22/5/10.
3 weeks ago was told that the prototype failed. Failed what? Not sure but it was suggested that it might have been something to do with the SRS air bags etc. & meeting compliance. Also told that the second prototype was complete & now undergoing compliance.
Yesterday was informed that a D4 winch bar now has an ARB Part Number (sorry but I forgot to ask for it), and manufacture will soon be commencing. Earliest deliveries will be end-July or early August.
My official order to ARB quoting the part number went in yesterday. So I should be one of the first deliveries....
And I can't wait...the roos around here are terrible. I've already hit one small roo (no visible damage) & been close all too often, & I've only had the D4 for 4 weeks.
