    D4 Apologises

    Hi Guys,

I was not smoking any wacky baccy nor have I OD'd on prescription medicine nor did I imbibe any alcohol but I really would like an explanation for what my D4 did to me the other night.

The night before last I was driving home (in my D4 HSE) from work at about 7:00pm in the usual Sydney traffic. I did not have the radio on, the traffic was normal for that time of night and the road conditions were nothing special. Suddenly I hear a 'bing' much like a warning sound. The car is only 6 weeks old so I frantically started looking for warning lights on the dash or on the centre console etc Nothing showed. After about 4 seconds I heard a 'bong' quite a different sound. Then about 2 seconds later a very English female voice says 'sorry'!!! That's it, one word! So my car apologised to me and I don't know why.

I was a bit miffed that the car didn't call me by name after all we have been introduced. I think my car is a rude snob!

Seriously does anyone have an explanation for my D4's strange behaviour? Has it happened to anyone else? Is my car developing a personality? Should I be worried?

This really is a true story and I would appreciate an explanation if anyone can do so.

    Cheers

    George

    George,
You have possibly, accidentally pushed the voice control button on the steering wheel & the System is waiting for a command.
Seeing it hasnt heard anything it kindly reminds you or hasnt heard the right command & says "Sorry"

I have always liked the command after pushing the button & driving with the Nav on & asking "I'm Hungry" & it then lists all the resteraunts & displays them on the Nav..good fun..Takes a while to get working properly as the system needs to get used to your voice, seems to work better if you have an English accent.

    Cheers.

Bugger and here's me thinking that I could develop a 'real' relationship with my car. Oh well, I am going to play with the voice recording and see what mischief I can get up to with it.

    Thanks Sneigy

I can't help either, but I must say I envy you for having one.
i just drove the FL2 HSE and thought while there, drive the D4 HSE.
Wow is all I can say, D4 owners are bloody lucky.

What a car, at $117k I would expect it but hey, you only live once.

Good on you and hope you sort the voices in your car out.
Be a good party trick though.

George have a look in the Owners manual, There is a list of commands that will help. There's a few pages of fun reading..

    Cheers.

My boys and I have fun talking to the lady in my D3 HSE but sometimes she just refuses to obey my command - typical female .

Will have to try this one out now and see how we go. I also like the way all the fuel stations pop up on the sat nav when the fuel light comes on.

    GeorgeK,

Also check you do not have something heavy, like laptop or briefcase on the passenger seat. My wife compained about intermittent bong noises for the first few weeks of ownership and we finally worked out the weight of her bag made the car think someone was sitting unrestrained in the passenger seat.

Since then I have disable the seat belt bong and she put her bag on the floor anyway.

This does not explain the car saying sorry, but maybe the D4 is smarter? or you pushed the voice control button, but I would not know anything about that.

Is there one that shows all of the public dunnies for the ladies when they say "I need a loo"....

    Ron...

PS George - I agree with the others. I reckon you've accidentally hit the voice command button on the wheel.
