$700 is too expensive for the oil, I did some research about 18 months ago and was able to find the oil which is used for Landrover, BMW, and VW for their ZF gearboxes. Cost ex Victoria for a 20 litre drum was around $300. If you do a search on this forum you should be able to find the details if not I should be able to find it again for you.
The removal of the transmission pan was indeed a pain but I guess once done the next time would be easier. It is difficult to get past the cross member but can be done by jacking up the RH side of the motor after removing the engine mount bolts............B........awful to put the bolts back though.
