    2005 TDV6 fuel filter replacement

    Hi Forumites,
I have a 2005 TDV6 D3 and I want to change the fuel filter, I've got all the information about changing the clamps on top of the filter from the GTR site. After changing the filter the procedure talks about bleeding the fuel system. I don't have the special tool that connects to the bleed valve is there any other options, how do others do this?
I suspect not everyone has the special tool but manages to change the filter without breaking the fuel pump which seems to be the consequence of not bleeding the system. Any constructive comments welcomed

but do not put the pipes on round the wrong way been there done that, wondering why its starts then stops

    Hi Stig0000,
Filter changed, used the method you described worked a treat, even managed to get the hoses the right way round, didn't stop when I started it. Thanks for the prompt assistance.

Does anyone know what the procedure is for a 3.0 TDi Discovery 4? Can't exactly turn the key to a specific position and I suspect there are a few more quirks (as the D4 still has some of that loveable British DNA).

    Dingmark Jim,

To turn igntion on only have key in vehicle & push/hold the start button until the dash lights up without putting your foot on the brake.

Thats how you turn on the ignition only.

    Cheers.

Thanks. I thought pushing "Start/Stop" without the brake depressed might do it, but wanted to make sure before I found myself somewhere remote with a dirty filter!
