For those looking for 17's
Just thought I would post my experience.
After pricing D3 17's in Australia I came to the decision they were unaffordable after being quoted $450.00 ea plus freight 2nd hand.
I did some research on Ebay UK & purchased 2 sets of 4.
The first set cost $400 ($250.00 + $150.00) for 4 landed in Australia via sea freight - shipping co have informed me they will arrive about 4.11.2010.
The second set cost me $650.00 ($250.00 + $400.00) landed in Australia delivered to my door in 4 days.
This gives me 8 rims for $1050.00 - pretty good value.
I also bought a single brand new rim for 17.50 GBP's + freight which is still to be confirmed.
The best search is 17" range rover sport rims as this is what the fit new to the RRS in the UK.
They are the same rims as the Aus Spec D3 S rims.
It is weird as it seems many in the UK wants larger rims & many in Aus want smaller rims.
You should be able to obtain a set for about 200.00 GPB's although you will have to be patient as not many vendors are willing to ship to Aus.
To be fair the sea freight was thru a contact at work so the price may not be at full rate.
www.transglobal.org.uk seem to provide pretty good rates compared to many others.
The exchange rate is making these pretty good value.
I prefer the LR OEM 17 X 7 rims because the tyres bulge out more than the after market 8" rims thus protecting the rims more & creating a tighter fit on the rim when aired down.
I suppose you should also factor in tyres.
Before any one asks all the rims are accounted for

Chuck

Good work! Remember than 17" tyres are cheaper than 18" so that is a factor to consider, and not just 5 x (never 4), also if you stake one which is always a possibility offroad. IMHO there's no point making a expensive super-long lasting tyre for offroad use, I'd rather have a cheaper one with less tread life in case a stick or rock goes through it first time out.

Hi Chuck,
Will they pick the item up as well and pack or did you have to arrange to get the wheels to them on a pallet ready for forwarding to Aus?
cheers

They will pick up.
I gave the trader a few extra dollars to box them up.
They do have an online quote calculator.
From experience they are about 16kg boxed up.
Regards
Chuck
