I have asked members of my local club to send me a picture of what they use. Mine is a perminent fixture but on an older car it's not such an issue to drill holes.
Here's a picture of what they use...you can use heavy duty clamps to secure the pole to the handle of the clamp.
Most guys stick this on the side glass or rear window. I guess the only issue is that the pole clears the gutter?

    Regards.

    Hi
I normally use a 300mm long peice of conduit zip tied to arb bar and have two, two mt peices of smaller conduit one with bell end on it so they push together when you get to where your going. then drop it into the the one on bull bar , as for a flag , I pinched a red bra from my wifes undies draw, this is attached with duct tape. This seems to get there attention and I hav,nt had a head on

    Flag for Disco 3

I tape a cheap fibreglass flag that I got from a bicycle shop to my UHF antena, which works well. Its done a few trips, has previously been attached to a roof rack and has been mended a couple of times.
