Same basic system; operates from sensors for yaw, pitch, roll, wheel speed, steering wheel angle, throttle etc. ARM is Active Roll Mitigation and is a bit of extra coding in the system to detect and prevent situations where you're likely to roll (at speed, won't help in low range). DSC largely does this anyway by detecting and then correcting skids, and in other to roll at speed one be getting the tyre slip angle such that the DSC gets all excited and kicks in, so as far as I can see it's more of a marketing acronym than anything else.

Actually thanks very much for the post as my brother-in-law is considering a D3 and I am keeping an eye on the D3/D4 section so that I can try to answer some of his questions.

There are many electronic driving aids. The important one for safety is ESC or Electronic Stability Control, or in LR speak DSC. However, pretty much all cars have it these days.

I thought that ARM was something to do with the air suspension & stiffened things up when cornering hard.
Not that I drive the D3 like a rally car I'm all for anything that may help stop the D3 behaving like a V8 ute on dirt.
Mind you, V8 ute over steer is a hell of a lot of fun.

That's Dynamic Response - disconnecting swaybars as per the higher-performance Rangie Sports and the like.

One thing that ARM does is to induce understeer to widen the line through a corner, but bad luck if that is what the driver was trying to avoid.
