    Incomplete VIN sticker?!

Hi, noticed that the engine compartment VIN sticker on our 2008 RRS doesn't have any weights listed - just the VIN, 2 blank 'kg' spaces, paint colour.

Is this normal? Also, where is the Australian Compliance Plate situated? The car was ordered Aussie spec with a view to emigrating but can't find any plate.

    Leo,
    Yes, Normal.
Compliance Plate is located on the bottom of the "B" pillar on the drivers side.
If you are in South Africa, It wont have an Australian Comliance plate on it.

Thanks. Do you know if the compliance plates are fitted by dealers in Aus. when they take delivery of cars or at the factory in the UK?

Compliance plates are fitted in Australia before they are released from bond, (Patrick autocare)

    Leo,
Compliance Plates are fitted by "Processing Centres" (or Bond Stores)in Australia, prior to the vehicle going to the dealer.
The vehicle leaves the UK with nothing but the build sticker fitted to the vehicle.
It is then placed in Bond until sold & then the vehicle released to whatever dealer it is ordered from.

I used to run a processing centre in Melbourne (For LR) for 6 years.

I assume you intend to import this vehicle into Aust.

Even though it may have been built to Aust specs it will still have to go through "compliance" as a private import as the authorities will not accept your say so that it complies.

This process can be expensive but if you can produce documentation from Land Rover Australia that your vehicle complies with Australian requirements then you may get compliance relatively easily.
