    Alloy bumper, steel tubing topworks?

I kind of suppose you are correct - that overall, steel would probably be the best compromise, and that is what all designs are - the least worst, so to speak.

Probably ideal would be an alloy bumper for weight and a steel topworks for what I would call ductility.

My experience with steel tubing is that it tends to slowly bend in failure whereas alloy either cracks or buckles, and kind of instantly. Others will probably not agree however.

I think the best feature of the ARB topworks design is those two triangular supports. They probably absorb the bending moments when something hits the upper rails.

I suppose all we have to do is wait awhile and some Roos will field test both designs for us.

Bugger, I have a D4 HSE so it looks like I'm still going to have to wait for the ARB bar!

Check and see if the Opposite Lock bar will fit the D4 HSE - it's similar to the ARB.

    Cheers,
