I find them slightly more noisy (emphasize 'slightly') than the dedicated road tyres they replaced (Hankook Ventus AS 255/60R18). They perform well on the black top both wet and dry, gravel and clay top and light to medium off road duties. I have BFG Muds for more dedicated off road use, though I could probably get away with the Conti's most of the time.

Well I finally got the Pirellis fitted yesterday at the local Motorama for $25 each tyre inc disposal.
So my costs were (in AU$):
$225 per tyre = $900
Delivery from the US = $395
Fitting = $100
Total = $1395 ($348.75 per tyre)
I was quoted anything between $1660 and $1900 locally - so did I just get a tyre free by buying from the US coz that's how it feels !! ?
That's my justification for it. Even went into a dealer and told them. They wanted to see so I showed them. They said but you don't get a warranty, I said they can deliver quicker than you quoted delivery of non stocked sizes from Melb, and when one's free I'll take that over a warranty. They said nothing.

It is time for new tyres and as this is the first replacement on the 09 Petrol V6 SE I am at a bit of a loss. Can anyone give me some advice on the General Grabber AT2 255/60 18m, $385 each for 5 all done - Jax Bowen Hills in Brisbane. Is this a good local price and having got 43000 km out of the original delivery tyres what can I expect from the AT2, 90 - 95% tarmac with balance sand/paddock bashing?
Waiting with bated breath, and soon to be emptier wallet.

I got the same tyres from JAX in Toowoomba for $355 in January. They're doing very well at the moment.

Had coopers ltzs 285/60/18 fitted yo my 3lt D4 yesterday. Only 2 small problems 1 a slight rub on full lock , rub the mud flaps , 2 the locking bar
for the Kaymar spare wheel carrier does not fit holes.So ive done away with it & use washers as spacers so i can use the carrier , going to Albury today to pick up my van, so will call into a bike shop & get a lock & covered chain.

I will be after tyres for my RRS before too long. I will be looking at 265/60/18 with a load rating of 109 or higher and a more aggressive AT thread. A LT spec would be great but I do not think there is anything.
Currently thinking about Goodyear Silent Armours but pricing in Aust seems to be all over the place - $500 to $610. I could have bought 4 for $1500 in a 4 for the price of 3 deal at Goodyear but that deal ended today and I am not ready to buy just yet.
What are other people paying for their Silent Armours in Aust.
TireRack currently quoting $188 so all up landed in Aust for 4 will be about $1200 plus $100 fitting.
For alternatives - not interested in Coopers, I believe the Continentals and Pirellis have less aggressive tread as are the Yokohamas.
What about BFG - is there anything available in a more aggressive AT??
Also a 265/60/18 has a diameter of 775.2mm and the OEM 255/55/18 has a diameter of 737.7mm - is this difference too great to use the OEM tyre as my spare?? What about the D3 size of 255/60/18 with a diameter of 763.2mm?
