Why do you assume that the Oz Standards are behind?
The current standard in Aus was the same as the pre-isofix system in Europe. They upgraded as it was a better, safer system in the crash testing done in Germany from what I've read on the 'net.
Put Grandma and grandpa in the back, the third row is comfortable for an adult, I had my father in law in the 3rd row for 4 days as we drove around Kangaroo Island with no complaining.
Certainly easier than kid seats, provided they are able to get in, but as the 2nd row roll forward an out of the way it is not too hard to climb in.
Regards,
George.

Driving around Jimna State Forest, wife and her friend in the third row, my wife fell asleep. Cause the seats come out of the floor it creates a footwell, making it comfortable. Seats aren't too bad either with quite a bit of room and padding. Head-height is brilliant. I think cause the wheels are quite far forward and back on the D4, you don't get thrown around much in the back either.
Cheers,
Kev.
