 What does SDV6 stand for?
 What does SDV6 stand for?
I saw a Discovery 4 at my local Land Rover dealer this evening and on the back the badging said: SDV6 HSE. I've only ever come across TDV6 before, I presume this is the 3.0 twin turbo V6 engine. What does SDV6 stand for, Super Dooper V6?

Sequential.......hmmmm.........I think Super Dooper sounds better, I might email Land Rover with my suggestion.
I'll Agree. After driving a SDV6 for about 3000km now I think it's Super Dooper !!!!

From the sound of that the engine should fire 123456, they should have said STDV6, but who cares.
How do the owners that have bought D4's after D3's find the new dash layout?
I was looking at & sitting in a D4 while the D3 was being serviced, I thought the interior was a big improvement except for the dash layout which is harder to read to me. The other small thing is although the TR knob is easier to see (& nice looking) I think it is harder to reach & more sort of in the road.

Lucky I didn't write STVD!

I think the Sequential bit is the Sequential Turbo's. Turbo 1 fires up first then Turbo No.2 starts up later, sequentially.
Dash layout and centre console is fine once you get used to it. Now after driving the D4 for a month, when ever I get back in the D3, I've got to think and look for the buttons/switches.
It's all a matter of what you get used to. Drive the D4 for a while and you don't have to think about where the buttons/dials are, I go straight to them now.
