2 D4 questions - trailer wiring and ipod

hi guys, sorting out my D4 order and have 2 questions, dealer is not the most knowledgable:

    1) with the trailer plugs/electrics, i understand that all D4s have prewired electrics, so all you need is a connector to convert the landrover plug to whatever you have (which i assume is cheaper aftermarket)- is this correct?

    2) is the ipod connectivity cable a specific cable for a discovery, or will any aftermarket cable suffice - i don't have an ipod, but will probably get one.

    thanks

    Irondoc,

Landrovers have the standard UK 5 round pin plugs as you know - I have the same on a D3 and a simple external converter/ connector cable is all you need. As for the ipod, a standard headphone jack plugs into the auxilliary port behind the centre console, just above the rear passenger air-con vents (in a D3) - I presume a D4 is not too dissimilar. Ensure you have a double ended headphone jack cable and you will be able to play your ipod through the car stereo.

    Hope that helps!

    Cheers,

D4 has USB and Ipod sockets in console, and comes with the cable (mine did anyway), that way it charges the ipod

Answer: Yes all Discovery 4's have pre wired electric's. Only use the black plug for Australia. They are wired as a std 7 pin round. If your trailer is wired to a 7 Pin flat, then you can pick up an adaptor plug from dealer or Bursons/Repco etc..

Answer: You can only order the cable if you opt for the Sat Nav & is LR specific. If you do not opt for the Sat Nav (like i didnt) then you can get something like a Kensigton LiquidAUX Deluxe (as i have)
Kensington | Auxiliary Kits and Cables
& it plugs in with a 3.5mm stereo jack male to male lead to the rear of the centre console.
Just a note, If you do opt for the Sat Nav, Make sure the dealer orders the cable with the vehicle. As it does NOT come standard.

    thanks

it will only come with a cable if you ordered the fancy sound system with the navigation. otherwise it'll have to be the aux jack in the back.
