Mind you it's an island so you would have to be really trying to get too lost.
You've also got to keep an eye on the tide times during certain times of the year. Same as most islands I guess.
Yeah it was sort of one of those days....sorry we have no maps left, BTW you can't use the middle track and the second lagoon has breached so the Rangers won't let you cross 1 hr each side of the tide....

Still a great trip though and only takes an hr from my place. I'll grab a map the next time I go.

    Cheers.

i go there regualy with the missus and kids in my d1, its the closest beach to brisbane u can drive on.,
ive been stuck many times when the weather is hot and no rain for weeks, the sand is so soft,

its nice to take a walk through the dunes up near the old ruins( as far north on the eastern side of the beach) but dont forget the aerogaurd

    No mate,

Heathwood...near the Green Bank firing range. Back of Forest Lake.

I'm 2 minutes from the Logan Motorway, then on to the Gateway. Was surprised how fast it was.

    Cheers,

    Kev.

    Thanks mate.

Yeah tried to do the walk to the forts but had forgotten my scuba gear....all flooded.

And yes....still scratching, even just from a few minutes behind the dunes.

I was fishing with my Bro-in-law a few months ago in his boat. We stopped at Mission Beach...he was saying "it's been ages since I camped here, dunno why, it's beautiful" Two seconds later we knew the answer....Dave, me and my eldest were covered in sandfies and mozzies....unbelievable....LOL!!!

That's what sparked the interest in Bribie off-road....thinking about the campsites not the bugs....LOL. If you look at Google or Nearmaps, you can see tracks everywhere but I get the impression that they are all restricted.?!

    Cheers,

    Kev.
