    Hi and wanted

    Thought I should introduce myself.

We have a 2007 D3 SE V6 in Java Black.

Bought it around 6 months ago and have been very happy.

Unfortunatley the car came some ridiculous 22 inch wheels and ugly to boot!

    <snip>

    We are in Perth.

Thought I would attach some pics of the D3 so you can all laugh at the hideous rims.

We well an truly upgraded from a Jeep Grand Cherokee although some say I just must be a sucker for punishment - but so far - touch wood - nothing but enjoyment.

    Nice D3.
It does look a bit like a pimp-mobile with those wheels.
There is a markets section on this forum which you could advertise on.

17" Wheels like these - a nice charcoal powder coat and they would look great on your D3 when offroad.

    Hi Scary - welcome!

A couple of points regarding those wheels... the tyres and the 22" wheels are probably not weight rated - so don't have any accidents, or your insurance company won't pony up!

Also check the weight rating on the 20" wheels. There are options for the tyres in that size.

Re 18" wheels, as Garry says - 17" steels are great for rough stuff.

17" alloys are ok too and lighter - but not as strong as steels. There are aftermarket or factory options for these.

18" alloys are good - but there are no MT tyre options unless you go way oversize. So if you're happy with ATs for offroad - good option. Ring around a few wheel shops for 18" - like the one that sell those gangsta wheels

    Cheers,
    Rob

Hi Scary , welcome to the site. I have just been going down the same road re tyres. i got a vehicle with 19" rims and whilst they are great around town they truly are awful, i mean unsuitable for real offroad. I to am in Perth and have just ordered ally 17's from triumph rover spares in SA. $300 per rim + del. or you can pick up steel rims for about $120 - $180/rim. I know there is a set of steels available in osbourne park, not very sexy as rims go but much more abuse friendly and you can get them painted any colour you want.
Also you may want to read the threads about the auto gearbox servicing, wheel bearings and CV joint/shafts
Better to be educated than broke
    Great looking vehicle BTW.
    good luck

Actually they are the correct load rated tyres and the rims also check out - I had some issues with the dealer post purchase so I checked this off personally just in case it was something else to add to the list!

Hey Scary, Does seem like it's me you're asking. I put some BFG Km2 245/70/17 on back order, they're due here in the first week in feb. I see alot of the guys run the 265/70/17 and i did consider them however i plan on doing touring not offroading for the challenge of it.
Did you have a read of the threads about auto servicing?Short version of all the threads is if your vehicle has between 80-120k on it get a service done. I have finally gotten onto someone who will do what i want done for a reasonable price.
Scary may i ask where you bought your car ie which dealer?
    Cheers ND3
