Hey Fatnold,
The same thing has happened to me. In fact mine has been adjusted twice now?
Cheers, Craig
Took a short cutthrough Wadbilliga NP over xmas in the D4. The roads were in pretty good condition. I was pushing along pretty hard but nothing out of the ordinary. (for me.
) I don't think it was any more than 100k's. Upon arrival at my destination I immediately noticed that the top tailgate was no-longer aligned perfectly with the lower tail gate. You could feel interference in the catch when opening and had to give it a good slam to close it. No nice quite click when closing. A harsh crunch instead. Obviously something has moved but what is the most likely culprit???? Now worried about what might move after a serious offroad adventure....

Are you parked on flat ground?
This is interesting, as I thought that the rear of the D4 was identical to the D3. I wonder what has changed.
Disco4SE, can you tell us what they adjusted?
Best Wishes,
Peter
My D3 has been a bit dicky when the rear hatch has been open while the car is stressed a bit (OK a lot), such as jacked on one corner or sitting on ramps.
Comes good as soon as you move to levelish ground.
Certainly looks the same as D3. I never had it happen on my D3.

Makes no difference, parked on the flat, parked with 2 wheels on the gutter etc. It's seriously out of alignment now and it wasn't before.
erm....thinking further....I do have a pretty solid cross rail bolted inside between the rear guards. (where the previously installed 3rd row of seats had a support bracket fitted on each side.) I might try loosening that off and see if it makes any difference to the tailgate alignment.
But surely the thing ain't that flimsy.![]()
Because of the design of the D3/4 which has a monocoque body on ladder chassis there is very little flex. I would be getting the connecting bolts and bushes checked. I had a squeek at front of mt D3 and they tightened the bolts and it stopped.
