    17" Rims

    OK - I goofed!
I got carried away and brought too many rims off ebay UK, so I have 4 D3 17" rims surplus to my requirements.

I've been asked how I acquired these rims (and the rims I'm using) at a reasonable price. The answer is ebay UK.
Range Rover Sport and some Discovery 3 come standard with 17" rims in the UK, and large numbers get 'bling' 20" and larger rims fitted - so 17" rims are much more readily available there.

Log onto ebay UK (eBay - one of the UK's largest shopping destinations) as most sellers are not offering Worldwide shipping. Search for Range Rover Sport and/or Discovery 3 Wheels and 'Ask Seller a Question' and ask if they would be prepared to remove tyres and pack for shipping to Australia. You will arrange courier pickup to reduce responsibility on the seller. You will get some knockbacks, but some will agree.

I used Transglobal Express (International Courier | Air Freight | Shipping | Excess Baggage | Fedex | Freight forwarders) for airfreight door to door and paid ~GBP160.00 for shipping on each set of wheels. Airfreight is cheaper and simpler than seafreight for small imports such as this.

Buying like this has its risks, so be careful. My experience has been positive - nothing ventured, nothing gained. Good luck with your purchase if you choose to go ahead.

    Ian,
I know exactly what you mean.
Chuck Imported 2 sets of rims & i another set from the UK
This way we ended up with 12 rims (3 sets of 4) & 6 rims each.
It was damn cheaper & had no issues at all.
I think Chucks worst case scenario was he had to wait an extra week for the 2nd batch of 4 rims.
    Again have no issues whatsoever.

    Cheers

    Hi Neil,
The only original equipment 17" alloys are 17"X7". As far as I'm aware, the only 17"X8" wheels available that are legal fitment are Performance Wheels BB6's.
I believe it's possible to fit BMW 17"X8" to the D3 - there's posts on here showing that it has been done - but I don't know about the legality of that fitment (wheel offset, load etc). Steel rims are available, but with 30mm offset are not legal fitment.
