Key broken in tow hitch lock
I've always had a battle removing and fitting the standard tow bar hitch. Tonight got the hitch off no drama but couldn't then get the key out of the lock. Without a great deal of force, managed to snap the key in the lock.
Any ideas how I can get the key out of the lock? Can't just pull it out with pliers as I couldn't pull the key out when it was whole.
I can do without the hitch for about 2 weeks before I need it to tow the trailer on the long weekend. Any options besides a trip to land rover? I'd be happy leaving the hitch on without it being locked.

Try putting it back on and removing the key if you can grab it
with pliers. mine broke of when my son droped it and that was
the only way to get it out.

Hi Ashes,
I have a standard tow bar hitch which I don't use or want - you are welcome to it - just drive over to pick it up (too heavy to post !!!) and it (complete with key) is all yours - free.
cheers

Here it is performing it's role as a door stopper.

bigmac, got the bar back on the car and can get the key out with pliers like you suggested. Is it possible to take the key out without locking the tow bar on? When I tried it only seemed to let me take it out when it was locked.

I don't think you can get it out unless it is locked as that is a safty thing that
it must be locked when on the vehicle.
Do you have a second key for it, as they come with 2 keys

Dont forget, when you fit the towbar the must be turned 180 degrees before the key can be removed.
