    Another Cargo Barrier Question

I'm looking for a cargo barrier for my D3.

The dealer quoted a part number VUB501170, but I seem to remember reading that this wasn't compliant with Australian Standards and the part number should begin with RAA.

Can't find where I read this..........

Anyone shed any light as I could order the 'VUB' type for 200 bucks less from the UK.

    Cheers

    dangermousehouse,

I recall that as well, have a feeling it was buried in a thread discussing either Duck's Gut's D4, Stornoway SA or someone else's recently modified/accessorised D4.

Something about the LR barrier not having the relevant ADR etc.

Not a lot of help but might have pointed you in the right direction.

    George

    Thanks DiscoWeb.

I'm hoping Sniegy will come along soon, as I think he wrote about it.

What's the implications of not having ADR approval?

    Yup, that's it. Many thanks.

Why is it I can't find stuff when searching

Soooo.......why would the dealer quote VUB501170, which I think is the UK number and not the Australian RAA557 number.

Can I use the VUB501170 type? Is it the same as the RAA557 one.

Why does it need to be confusing

Not sure why Sneigy would quote one number and your dealer the other. I also do not know if they are interchangeable.

Possibly PM Sneigy to see if he can investigate for you.

Others with Microcat access may be able to assist also.

    Cargo Barriers

Just for info, Milford do manufacture a D3 cargo barrier (Sneigy suggests in the thread referenced below that this is not the case). They don't do their new, you-beaut MXV-70 version for the D3 or D4 though. I called Milford, and they said they have no intention of making one so we're stuck with the standard version.

Auto Extra in Osborne Park, Perth are fitting me one next week at a cost of $696 (which is about $100 less than the installed price I was quoted by ARB for the same product, by the way).

As a further aside, if anyone in Perth is looking for the best price on an Optima Yellow Top (D34) battery, after a bit of ringing around I got one for $340 from Challenge Batteries, also in Osborne Park, having been quoted $379-plus elsewhere.

    Best, Gaviatrix

    Dangermousehouse,

    I have an OEM barrier for the D3, made by Hayman Reece - not sure of the part number, but there was a thread on this not so long ago - see below for post;

"Here are some photos - though it has the landrover logo on, it is made by Hayman Reece, but fitted at Austral LR. I was assured that all ADR requirements have been met, etc. I'm sure other owners will have similar. Hope this helps!

Cost me about $800 from memory, fully compliant with ADR, but more importantly, side airbag system can be deployed without obstruction.

    Cheers!

    Thanks for this.

The pictures look different to the picture (drawing) the dealer showed me.

I'm pretty sure that VUB501170 is the British variation, but not sure if it's compliant.

.......it was 'only' 500 bucks, too, so must be different somehow!
