Just to follow up on the cargo barrier saga.

I phoned the local dealer and asked for a quote on both the 'UK' and 'Australian' types and was told only the UK version was showing as available and so this would mean that it was now ADR approved.

 Mystery solved?

The "safety glass breaker/seat belt cutter" should always be in the front of the vehicle and within easy reach of the driver - if you crash and find yourself stuck in the car (held by your seat belt) and then need to break a window to get out it won't do you a lot of good in the back of the vehicle.
In 20 years of flying I always had one strapped to my leg - only used it once and if it wasn't within reach I wouldn't be here now !!!
 cheers
P.S. - if you have a second one in the cargo area that's fine.....

					Dangermouse,
They sell the UK one here as a dog guard i don't believe it is ADR compliant as a "cargo Brrier". It hasn't been tested to ADR requirements as it has been teseted to EC requirements which are different/lower than the ADR. 2 x 17kg loads opposed to 1 x 60kg load for ADR. The UK LR one is actually cheaper than the loacal ones...

I just checked the price of a D3 cargo barrier with "Autosafe Industries" here in Melbourne and it's $516 plus GST (supply only) - they can fit it for you if you want, although it looks pretty easy to do. There's a three day order time.
 cheers

					Hi All,

I can recommend the 4x4 Intelligence product and service - a quality product that was supplied with a small emergency hammer.

I sourced a cargo barrier from 4x4 Intelligence a fortnight ago which was well made and easy (but fiddly at times) to install.

Despite the instructions being absolute garbage - like a cartoon drawn by a blind man before being photocopied 83 times - the hardest part being squaring up the small holes required to be made in the upper rear trim.

There are no rattles at all and it will take about 5 mins to remove and reinstall the 2nd time around (although I think that I'll leave it in as it looks good!).

 Cheers,
 RickO

Autosafe Industries "Tradesman" Cargo Barrier Autosafe Industries "Tradesman" Cargo Barrier

					Hi All,

I just wanted to say that I can recommend the Tradesman cargo barrier that is Manufactured by Autosafe Industries.

I got mine through Steve at "Automotive On Site" here in Adelaide. Steve had one sitting in stock for a while and was happy to depart with it for $400 cash. - A good deal I think.

It was easy to fit to my D3 - took about 45 minutes all up. The trickiest part was the fixtures under the trim in the roof lining at the back, but it was pretty easy to figure out.

It compiles with the Australian Standards and is load rated for a single 60kg load impact.

When fitted, it is still possible to use the cargo blind.

I haven't taken it out yet, but I think it wouldn't take longer than about 5 minutes.

Heading up to the Finders Ranges in a couple of weeks - looking forward to being able to stack stuff in the back and not have to worry about it!

 Cheers,

 CiarĂ¡n
