Looks like a nice van. Great load allowance.

We are about to tow ours down to Melbourne to get the chassis sorted. Someone didn't do their sums when building it. It has 3.0T Simplicity suspension and it should have been fitted with 3.5T suspension. So it will be getting G & S Control Rider Coil suspension.

This shows in the 0-100Kph times. 9.6 seconds compared to 10.6.
This and the better gearing makes the 3.0 D4 the better choice.

Just got the van home from the Sunshine Coast. The steering feels much better at the moment I am not sure if it was the fact that we had less water on board this time. The 2 main tanks were only half full. I also had a generator in the front tool box. All up I probably had more ball weight on this trip.

I reset the trip meter and I got 15.8L/100 for the Sunshine Coast to Brisbane run. I was able to sit on 100klm/h most of the way.

Rockylizard I am currently looking at a similar set up to what you appear to have. We have not purchased our vehicle or van yet as currently overseas. However, glad you asked that question regarding towing as it is exactly what is going through my mind. My vehicle options are as I guess yours were, LC200 or the Discovery 4 TD6 2.7L. Preference is the Discovery, but 2.7L is a concern. We don't want 7 seater, so 3.0L is out.
For Mowog - please keep us informed regarding your trip and the performance.
Has anyone had experience with the 2.7L and a van or around 2500 - 3000kg off-road?
    Best wishes

    Hi Dahai,
If you have towed with the 2.7Lt and then with the 3.0Lt, there would only be one choice
Cheers, Craig (Obviously a 3.0Lt fan)

Disco4SE does it make that much of a difference, 2.7 to 3.0? At an extra $14,000 it is higher than the LC200.
Do I read into your message that the 2.7L is not really up to towing around the 2500kg, or are you just saying the 3.0L is better?

Just chip the 2.7l for about $1000 to get about the same performance as the standard 3.0l and save the $14000.

The 2.7 will tow fine others here report no issues towing with the 2.7.

But it is true that the 3.0L is just simply better. But is it worth $14k more to you? Thats the real question.
