A question for all you guys who tow larger vans (2500KG+) with the D4, to do with the overall bouncing effect on the car you get when you have 250+KG on the ball.
Let me first explain my situation.
At the moment I have an Audi with Self Levelling Air Suspension and the Anti Sway technology as well. However Audi doesn't say not to use the WDH in conjunction with the SLS, so I have run the van both ways -WITH WDH & without WDH.
With WDH the rear of the car seems to be quite firm. If I (95KG's of me - well ok maybe 100KG) jump up and down on the drawbar the rear of the car does not go down any further. In driving conditions, this relates to the car being a lot more stable as there is little motion on ball, moving the front of the car around.
Without WDH, if I repeat the same step as above, there is quite some downward movement of the back of the car when I "jump up and down on it". Obviously then this translates to a somewhat unstable drive.
Getting to the question.
Would you say that this situation is something that is somewhat similar to the D4, or is the SLS on the D4 quite a bit firmer, or is this just what happens full stop with SLS setups?
I really appreciate your input on this, as I would prefer a SLS setup to the WDH, however my experiences to date aren't that positive. I would like to move to a D4, but would like some real life feedback.
Cheers All.
