    Sticky lifter

My D3 V8 has a slight tick coming from the engine? Does the overhead cam engine have hydraulic lifters? or are they solid and ill need to re-shim the tappets?

I've just changed to a really good sythetic oil to see if that can clear out any gunge in the lifter. But if there solid lifters, the best oil in the world won't fix it!

Any one else had dramas with lifters?

Pushrods / lifters in an Overhead cam engine , an interesting Concept !!!
Nah , Buckets and shim , pull the rocker covers and adjust the shimming .!
The VVT on the end of the inlet cams can make a ticking noise . (have a little listen around the exhaust manifolds while your at it )

    Thanks for the reply.

thought that might be the case. better do some reading. The 405 mi16 has an overhead cam with a hydraulic lifter in the bucket under the cam.
