Need to own it over there for a period (1 year?) before you can bring it home - then import duties etc. Not worth it is most folk's decision in the end.

I would have thought the prospect of buying a car that's been driven on roads treated with grit (salt or some such?) would put you off......
The only reason they are cheaper is the exchange rate. Unless you are going to live over there for a year it will not be economical to bring one over - even with the exchange rate.
There are some cheap D3s here if you are prepared to wait for the right vehicle.

SupporterNo worries lads thanks for the replies.
There may also be some minor spec differences between UK and Australian versions (top meet ADR's - might be basic things like mirrors or whatever).
Almost certainly LR wouldn't do any warranty/recall work on a grey import.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

I believe it *may* be possible without owning it for 12 months / living out of Oz, but the duties payable on arrival make it marginal at best and of course it'll always have the 'stigma' of being an import. I'm not sure if that makes a huge difference on the D3/D4/RRS though, mate of mine took his D3 with him last year to Melbourne and ended up having to sell it, he acheived pretty much full Oz market value for it very easily.
I have all the costs for shipping one over though if you're interested, as I'll likely be bringing my RRS later this year.
A couple of friends of mine in Perth are looking into bringing a supercharged RRS each over, they're not worth a sausage here with the current cost of petrol. Whether they manage to sort it is another thing entirely though.
