I sourced genuine 17's from ebay in the UK.

If you go downthis route go for air freight & sea freight does not always end up cheaper as I found out.
All sorts of bogus charges & a huge delay.
You should be able to pick up a really good set of 4 for approx $200.00
I bought 2 sets & another member took two off my hands.
This left me with six.

There is plenty on wheels and tyres for the D3/D4 in the D3.D4 section so do a search and you should find heaps of information. Be aware that there are more and more good tyres in 18" that are becoming available.

I do know that Dynamic make a 17" steel wheel that goes on.

Here is a RRS with them on.

Hi Kevin,
Call triumph rover spares in SA, they supply the australian made rims that have been designed especially for the discovery3 they have the correct speed and load rating, or you could just look them up on the net as i think they post photo's of them. I assume that you have a 2.7ltr D4?? If not then you won't be able to fit 17" rims on unless you change the brake package. {but i'm guessing you may already know this}..

As previously posted. The rim is the Performance BB-6, 17x8" compared to the std D3 rim of 17 x 7". you will need to take the rim width into account in your choice of rubber. I am pretty sure you will find pics in posts if you bother to do a search. Triumph Spares seem to have the best pricing, but remember to allow for freight. There is a choice of a charcoal colour or aluminium.

If you would rather have the OE D3 rim, Triumph Spares always seem to have plenty of those as well. As an option, Barbagallo tyres ( in W.A. ) usually have OE rims in 17x7 or 18 x 8, providing you are prepared to pay their price.

I have just done the same thing.....traded my 2008 Grand Cherokee in on a D4 TDV6. And yes I too miss my 510nm Merc TD V6.

But the ride is so much nicer and it has almost twice as much room in the back, but I also miss the multitude of storage spots in the front of the Jeep for sunglasses, coins, wallet, phone and map holders in the front doors etc. But I wont miss the Jeep rapist price gougers at service time, thats for sure.

My Grand came with the same rubbish goodyears when it was new too...only tyre I have ever had that seemed to puncture itself by collecting small pointy stones in the tread. I had about 3 flat tyres before I replaced them with BFG's.

I thought there was some difference in wheels between the D3 and D4, something to do with bigger ball joints. Becuase everytime I see wheels for sale (even 19's) they say they fit up to 2009?

The Land Rover Dealer was most apologetic and replaced the tyre straight away.

l have a set of partially worn Mickey Thompson Baja ATR 245/70/17 from the Jeep and want to use them for the D4 and keep the 18" OEM Wranglers for the road.

Have any D4 owners fitted 17" wheels and if so where did you source from?

Nah, the bigger ball joints have been in use for several years, so must be allowing for the 3.0 D4's bigger brakes. The D4's standard 19" rims are the same rim as the 2009.

Strange that you mention new vehicles being delivered with 50psi in the tyres.

I only had 200km on my vehicle and on my way home from delivery when I too got a puncture at a layby on the open road. I plugged the tyre and checked tyres pressures and they were all 50psi cold!!!

I mentioned this to my dealer by email and phone but got no response. I may have mentioned this previously on this site.

I recall some one saying that all new vehicles are transported at high tire pressure to minimise tyre flat spot during storage. I would have thought that pre-delivery checks of expensive vehicles would include a tire pressure check.
