USB MP3s - keeps giving error

I have a D4 with the satnav and premium stereo with USB and iPhone connection

I have an 8GB USB stick which I put in the port, but it keeps giving me errors. if i turn the car on, then stick it in, wait a while, then select "USB", it plays OK. But if I stop and turn the car off and later get going, it keeps giving me a "device error". i pull it out, wait a bit and stick it in again - sometimes this works, but sometimes I have to do this several times and shut off the radio, wait a bit and turn it on.

it is very annoying. anyone have similar problems?

    cheers

I too have had countless problems with usb sticks.

I can't get one above 4gb to work and have tried a few different brands.

I have a lexar and a scandisk both 4gb that work all the time with no problems, I think it has to do with the format??

Both the sticks that work for me are FAT format the ones that don't work will only accept a FAT32 format.

If you can find an old 8-16gb stick that would have cost it's owner heaps... It may just work.

You can still fit about 1000 tracks on a 4gb stick so it's pretty good!!
