Thread: For those with a diagnosed stuffed turbo (error P132B)

Dunno if it helps anyone but the D3 starting to slowly lose power in the normal load up spots on the regular work trip and then started to really blow some black soot under load and then under even slight load... take offs etc. The slow power loss was over about three weeks (perceived or real ? was the thought) and then the soot started to get real serious for a week.

The Faultmate showed:

Quick lift of the hood (finally) and a nicely multi split turbo hose... the big black one at the front. Swapped out now and smooth sailing... and no smoke!

There was a D3 TDV6 for sale recently in Sydney that I called about.

The owner said he had a good spare second hand turbo for sale as well. As he explained his D3 started playing up he went to a dealer and the dealers workshop told him that the Turbo was stuffed and it would cost a fortune to fit a new one.

So he brought one fitted it himself only to find the vehicle had the same problem. He then found out once he went to another workshop that it was a sensor that was faulty, so after fitting a new relatively inexpensive sensor the problem went away.

Sorry to say the more often I hear of cases like this I reckon its almost becoming a case with some of the more expensive repairs that owners need to get a second opinion before committing to any major work.

Today has been a good (but fiancially bad) day for the disco 3 TDV6. I brought in the turbo actuator rod kit, but the turbo is so buried that the labour is about 1k to do the kit, and if it dont work u have to spend the money again. I was priced $3300 for a full changeover turbo fitted and as we plan to keep the car we may as well spend some $$ on it. I also done a full service on it and replaced the oil /filter on the auto trans.

The car is totally transformed, a run to the airport and back in traffic netted 8.2 l/100km and the torque of the car is just amazing. I guess the decarbonising, silicone intercooler hose replace, EGR blank kit, along with the BAS remap has maximised all the elements, without even a whif of exhaust smoke.

yes i have been kicked hard in the financial testices today but the car runs better than it did when i first got it, and the auto is very smooth, with great low rev performance and smoothness. Im happy with the disco again.
