Opinions if I should remove ARB BB and Winch from D3 before trading in?

    Hi All,

Hopefully my D4 will arrive in Nov 11 so I need to think about the following.

I've had an ARB Bullbar, Warn Winch 9000XP & IPF XP9000 D/Lights fitted to the D3 for the past 5 years and am wondering if I should go to the trouble of refitting the original bumper and removing the BB, winch and D/lights.

I will need to buy new wheel arch flares and inner plastic guards. Not sure of the the availability or costs of these either which might be a deciding factor.

Will I get a better trade in value if the D3 looks like a standard D3 although I can't remove the Raised Air Intake without replacing the front guard.

I'm sure I can sell the BB, winch and D/Lights but is it worth the effort??

What are your thoughts if I should bother or not.

By the way I'm not overly interested to sell the D3 privately due to the potential hassles so considering trading in only.

    Thanks

If they'll fit the D4, definitely.

They will probably add almost nothing to the trade in value.

I would be interested in doing a swap with you for some cash if you think you will be better off returning it to original.
Mine is a MY09 D3 so the flares will be different.

    Mine is Zermatt Silver.

You will get absolutely no benefit leaving the extras on, and I would think the dealer(s) would use their fitment to beat the price down. I though one of the advantages of the RAI, was the installation and or removal without drilling any holes etc ??

    Hi there,

I wasn't thinking that the accessories would increase the value but may in fact reduce the trade in value.

I believe ARB BB's for the D3 changed over the years as LR changed the mounts behind the bumper. For example a 2005 D3 might be very different from a 2007 D3. This is something you would need to check with ARB. A D3 ARB BB is definately different to a D4 one (is there a D4 ARB bar?)

The RAI is bolted to the front guard just below the air intake hole on the guard. Nutserts are fixed to the guard and would not be covered up by the original plastic grill. Also there is a mounting point at the top of the A Pillar which can be covered with a new trim.

    Please keep the opinions coming.

    Thanks Chris

    Swap out to stock!

I just traded my car returned to stock (Subaru Forester) and paid a little for the bits to do so but in selling wheels, bull bar, spotties etc I have come out ahead. Always remove accessories I think.

Having said that, I have a D3 2005 SE and would love a BB & Winch... What you be asking for this if you did remove? I would be happy to reduce the cost and provide side guards, and inner guards for you to get back to stock, depending on condition etc of your BB and stuff.

Let me know if your keen to discuss.

If you've got five grand of stuff stuck on the front , then it
will be easier to sell . Stick it on carsales etc. ; it's not got
that much value that you need it as deposit for a Dealer ............

PS Are you getting a white HSE again , or a spec'ed SE ?

Depends on the rest of the car.

If the body is scratched and it has obviously been used offroad then you're best off keeping it as-is and selling to another offroader.

Only remove the accessories if you intend to, and can, market the car as in as good a condition as those not used offroader. And then be sure you can get some decent $ for the accessories.
