    Trailer Circuit Problem D3

I was testing my trailer lights, right hand side works as advertised, left doesn't. Dash indications shows trailer connected when RH indicator selected, nothing on left. Vehicle indicators working OK. Trailer circuits check OK on another vehicle.

Checked fuses in luggage compartment, but I suspect they're for the white plug not the black. Checked fuses in passenger compartment fuse box, but nothing suggests there's a problem. That could be due to the fact that nothing in the long list of fuses screamed out LH trailer indicator.

Is there anything anyone can suggest?

    Cheers

Hi - Bob is this a new trailer or your old one which I assumed worked OK. The obvious is the trailer but when I bought my camper the lights did not work and I bought a light board from Supercheap to get it home - basic tail lights worked but everything else was weird - including making the car disengage from cruise control when you put the blinkers on.

On getting the camper home I connected up the light board to the truck and all worked fine - back on the RRS and would not work correctly - so a mix of issues.

Anyway if it is your old trailer which I understand worked fine - might be water in the trailer somewhere. I thought 35 years as an electrician might have been helpful.

If you find the issue is in the car please let us know as I need to change some things in mine to make trailer lights work properly.

    Hi Garry

I'm making an LED tamer for Phil T at the club. My trailer has a LED tamer hardwired, so it's OK. I'm using a 7 pin plug at the back of the vehicle checking the new tamer, but it seems I'm getting nothing out on the LH pin. I even connected an incandescent across the pins without any joy.

    Cheers

Not able to help - my trailer plug fuses are in the back but I when I wired mine in I used the black plug and didn't bother with the white one. If it all worked in your car then if you are just duplicating that it should work in the other.

    Good luck with it.

Sometimes can just be the connectors need pinching in the female side.
