Thread: Just purchased a D3

Firstly congrats on the new purchase !

Secondly to get some meaning full feedback/tips or advice perhaps you could advise;

Age:

KM's Traveled:

Diesel or Petrol:

What you want to do with it (Outback Touring/Lots of off road trails or generally use with a bit of dirt thrown in etc):

Does it come with any changes from standard:

That way we can give some feedback based on experience with that type of vehicle/use/accessories etc.

Generally I they are a great vehicle, I have a 3 yr old D3 with about 60K kms on the clock and still enjoy it every time I get in to drive it.

Again welcome and enjoy once you pick it up.

The vehicle is a 2006 TDV6 HSE.
It has almost 54K on the clock and is immaculate.
I don't think the previous owner ever went off road.
I had an independent inspection done on it (Rovertech) and they said it was absolutely beautiful. It required new rear brake pads and disc's and had a slight weep from the steering seal. The dealer who I bought the car from is fixing all of this for me before I pick it up.

I do a bit of surfing and fishing and my girlfriend has a horse, so I will be using it for towing the boat and horse float around and driving on the beach.
I may head up north next year and do the Gibb River Road.

The car is pretty much standard HSE. It has an after market GPS and reversing camera, but thats about it.

Congratulations on your D3! Low km for that year.

I would recommend first checking all the recall work has been completed:
Land rover

If it was manufactured after about August 2006, it will be a 07MY and need the HPFP update.

How can I tell if it has been done?
If it has not been done, what do I do?

I clicked on the link, but could not see anything about the above mentioned update. (maybe I had a ladies look??).
I also need to comfirm the DOM. I did notice a sticker on the inside of the bonnet with a 2005 date on it but on the drivers door side of the vehicle is a stainless steel tag with 2006 on it??

Hi Darren,
HPFP is the high pressure fuel pump - there is a recall there from 11/11/2010 which is the latest (3rd) redesign of the front bearing in them. As yours is a 05MY, you don't have to worry about it.

You do however, need to worry if this one was completed:
Land Rover
Lift your bonnet and if you see the "trombone" vacuum hoses like in this photo - you should be ok:

Apart from the above, you really must read the FAQs. They will fill in all the missing information you need.

Welcome to the world of D3's Darren - you're going to love it....I hope...they're a great vehicle - some "fiddly bits" but the fun you have driving it outweighs any small niggles and you will get a wealth of information (and help) on this forum - I certainly did - don't forget to post some photos so we can all enjoy it.
