Why are you not asking the Dealer for a costs-break down
and explanation ? As for coolant , by the time you see any of that
, Juliar will be a distant memory.
I'm actually running a Territory diesel with the TDV6 not a Land Rover but wondered what the additional costs are for a major service on this engine.
Ford have published service costs for the Terri D and the major service is about $200 more for the diesel than the petrol.
I also noticed that the price for a coolant change is much higher for the diesel motor.
Can anyone shed some light on why the costs should be higher.

I cannot speak for the TDV6 in a Territory but coolant in a landie TDV6 has a service life of 10 years - SUBJECT - to a specific gravity test at each service within specs. Not sure if it will last 10 years but I would have thought a routine coolant change in a Territory will not be required for a long time.

Garry,
That sounds like a long time between coolant changes, is there a kilometre limit as well ?
I did the old model Territory after 4 years, easy to do except I was caught out by the single use hose clamps they use. Still intrigued as to why the coolant change costs are higher for the TDV6 than the petrol. Is it a different specification or just a PITA to do the job ?

The reason ford charge more for the diesel service is the additional costs compared to the petrol. These costs being a diesel fuel filter, extra cost for lube oil ( more of it ),
is there a sensor on the pump which needs a blow with some air, air filter will be more expensive. Coolant is dearer. Probobly a few more things which im sure the dealer would be more than happy to discuss with you. Let us know how you get on. As for the single use hose clamps im sure you will find that the little screw cover pops off with a small flat blade screwdriver allowing you to undo the clamp and reuse. Unless they have changed them again, its been a few years since i have been on the tools.
Cheers

Steve,
It has to go in for some warranty work plus the first service is not too far away so I'll try and get clarification on the costs.
I'll check out the original hose clamp from the old Terri. I remember using Vise Grips to get it undone but didn't check it out any further I just replaced it.
