Flutter on Start

It doesn't actually run rough, just has a flutter noise after start-up. It only seems to do it when cold. Next time I can beat the wife to the keys in a morning, I'll check starting with leaving the glow plug light go out. I've pretty much ignored that since I got the car, as modern diesels don't seem to rely on it like the older diesels used to, and living in QLD, there's no worry about cold starts! :angel: ....I remember scrapping the ice off my old Peugeot diesel in the UK and then having to give the glow plugs a number of cycles to make sure it starts!! :eek:

Have the egr valves checked we are finding these do what you described when they stick in the morning

What's egr? I have this same flutter for a second or so after start up, and I have looked for the glow light, can't see it?

Is it costly cause I think I have just hit 5000kms after I bought the car, meaning no warranty... Great.

Exhaust gas recirculation. There is one for each bank. Sometimes they become sticky from coke. Under certain conditions they redirect exhaust gas back into the engine to burn of poisonous gases

Is that what the blanking plates on eBay are for? Should you blank them?

Took mine to dealer today, they reckon it's a software issue, and updated it. Claimed the earlier versions did this, only when cold though. I'll see how it goes tomorrow morning.

Not the first time I've heard it's related to software - Let me know if it's resolved! :)

Still flutters, but maybe not as severely?? Not fussed if it isn't endangering my motor at all. Are the blanking plates worth it?
