No I don't think so.
Why not get the sunroofs fitted with a really dark window tint?
I'm quite happy with the amount of light they let in and how the screens filter the light.
Hats & Sunglasses?
Hello all,
We have recently purchased a Disco 3 with the 3 sunroof option.
Does anyone know where I can buy sunroof shutters whereby I can effectively block out all of the sun coming through as opposed to just pulling across the mesh cloth??
Thanks

Be careful of tinting the sunroof glass - some window tinters will refuse to tint sunroof glass because they have experienced the glass shattering after long exposure to the sun. Not sure why, but I've heard it from a few sources now. Better safe than sorry.
Why will this happen , pse explain ?
I am just about getting ready to do put a film on mine. The fitted netting does not block out the sun completely.
For me it's the worst design on the D3/4's. I would have preferred a steel roof or a sunroof like my GU Patrol, where I can stand on the seat and look out and block out the sun totally.
Travelling in the summer here in Africa , you can feel the sun shinning trough, and I don't even have a fair skin, and it car cooks inside when left in the sun.Maybe in Europe they want maximum sun rays to penetrate in to the cab, here we try and get as little as possible into the cab.But again the vehicle's are designed in the NH where they have colder climates.
Hey Koos Best,
This is a true fact in Australia, all reasonable window tinters will NOT tint glass sunroofs for that exact reason, they WILL crack. TempestV8 is correct.
I think it has something to do with the expanding/shrinking & the tint applied.
Not exactly sure as I can't remember.
Cheers.
Be fair mate
It means the model specification YOU have is not suited to your climate...
Not the vehicle itself, as there are plenty of non-glass D3 and D4s around...
Get some screens made up to fit the roofs... You know the gear, seen in side windows of expedition Defenders... May even be a market for a kit if you were to make enough of them...

Or put on an Expedition rack with a solid floor, this will keep the sun off the roof as well assisting in keeping it cooler.

Yes maybe wrong choice of roof option by the buyer.

I know nothing about sunroofs but I did try to find an explanation for this and sometimes you can't believe everything you read on the internet. But if you google "tinted sunroof nickle sulphide inclusion" you will find a lot of people saying that this is what causes tinted sunroofs to explode.
Perhaps have a read of what people are saying and then you can make up your mind whether it's applicable to the Land Rover sunroof or not.
