The button can be a little touchy.
As soon as it starts to flash let it go. The reason it cant stay on is because the D4 is able to stand in water to its max depth and not leak for 30 minutes. That makes it pretty air tight.
Of course if you want lots of fresh air and dust in cabin you could always buy an LC 200.... :wasntme:
I had heard that the reason why it switches back to fresh air is because the cabin is sealed so well. Fact or fiction....I'll let you be the judge.
It doesn't make sense to me. Why would you have an easily defeatable safety system, particularly without a pop up warning and disclaimer that you have to accept.
If the fresh air comes in when the vent is opened it must flow out somewhere I would think unless it closes an inlet and outlet flap.
It is a pain in the arse particularly when driving on dusty roads.
Has anyone been able to reverse the action that this button does i.e. default to closed and open when button pressed? Does it drive an actuator that can be reversed easily?

Just getting more forgetful, not hectic. ;)
Problem has been on dusty roads when cars coming from opposite direction pass and you smell dust and realise you forgot the button again.

Agree with Tombie, leaving A\C on vent open keeps dust out, by pressurising cabin
sean c, air comes out behind tail lights, maybe check them, if you are getting dust in.
