It's all about getting "fresh" air into the cabin - if you're on recirculate too long the air becomes "stale" and you get drowsy - then you crash - and in this "it wasn't my fault" society you then sue the company for making such a dangerous car !!!!!

    Hi Baz

I brought this exact issue up with my dealer at our last service - the recycle always seemed to switch to fresh air behind a belching deisel truck or bus!!

The service manager said it was a safety issue and couldn't be changed. I tried the 3 second hold, but it didn't work for me.

Mind you I have a Mazda 6 that inhales more fumes with the recycle on than the D4 does with the recycle off.

I am sure that if you press and hold for a few seconds it sets recycle to stay indefinitely. Will test tomorrow.

On a side note, VW obviously don't seem to have this issue, nessies Amarok A/C recycle only turns off if you change the settings or turn the motor off, which is the same as our old D2 was.

Soon as we get the D4 back I'll try the 3 second thing.
