Thread: PermaGrin again today!

A couple of months ago in the D4 ("Jumbo") we drove around the back of Mt Buffalo for 5 hrs up and down low range spur tracks and river crossings with our 10 month old asleep in the back. We popped out in the King Valley and winery-hopped the afternoon back to Bright with several cases to show for it... Our car does it all in style like no car I've ever known. We love it!

My wife has recently had surgery and treatment for cancer (fortunately a good news story, due to early detection.....still a rough trip but could have been much worse).

The ability of the D4 to drop to access height and the smooth ride was a god-send.

I've also just recently driven from Brissy to Coffs and whilst there drove inland to the more hilly regions and also on the beach near Coffs. I've had the car 2 years now and it still impresses the hell out of me with the ease that it eats stuff up.

I cannot agree more, last week I jumped in my D4 with my wife and daughter and drove almost 2000 kms to my daughter (another daughter) and so in-laws who live in the Whitsundays to be with them for our grandson's first birthday. A trip like this is not a problem and the D4 only used abt 2 and a half tanks of fuel to get there.

I will leave to return home to the Hunter Valley early on Saturday morning. This is the third time now that I have brought the D4 north and actually look forward to such trips.

Celtoid I hope that your wife makes a full and speedy recovery and I know what you mean about the ability of the D4 to drop to access height and the smooth ride being a God-send. My wife had a hip replacement last year and when I asked the orthopedic surgeon which vehicle would be the best to take her home in (3 days later), her Renault Laugna or the D4, he suggested that the D4 would be best. Being able to drop the suspension made it a lot easier for her to get into and out of and of cause the ride helped immensely.

Ditto the well wishes, and agree re access Ht - when my wife was pregnant she couldn't even get in to her mini but the D4 was great

I jumped in mymates new D4, I think it was the 2.7L though but drove to Port Lincoln and back pretty much straight away, what a machine to do it in.
They also have a Porsche Cayenne and this is their preferred mode of transport of mile munching as they call it. Actually their fav is their 1988, 928 S4 but due to constant radars etc its no longer as much fun.

I totally was so impressed with the ride, its actually amazing I thought and have to agree with you 101%.

Big guy's post reminded me of further real life testament to the D3/D4.

A mate of mine has owned Land Rovers for ever and when his old Rangie met it's demise at the hands of someone that he had lent it to he bought a TD5. Not long after he bought a BMW512 and about twelve months later he also bought a D3. From then on the D3 was his favorite mode of transport and the 512 mainly sat in the garage.

Six months ago he purchased a D4 which is now his daily/favorite drive. He still has the TD5 and the D3 that his boys now drive because, as he said to me, they were too good to get rid of and besides he wanted to make sure that his boys had the opportunity to get a good appreciation of the marque. And yes the 512 still mainly sits in the shed.

True story.
